COMPOSING SEVERAL VALUE PATTERNS FOR THE SAME SUBJECT
Mark off rectangular shapes__ approximately 3 x 4"__ on your sketchbook page,or use recipe cards, marking off one end to conform the rectangle to the size of your drawing pad, canvas or watercolor/pastel paper. Choose a photograph or sketch from your personal Resource File.

Create several versions of the same sketch or photo and apply Value Patterns to them, using lights, darks and midtones (grays). Choose the most pleasing one and make a miniature colored work from it, using the medium of your choice. Perhaps, later, try an enlarged version.
